BioPark Canada is being built on the Pickering Lands as proof that agriculture, energy and ecology are one system. Twelve districts sit side by side so the outputs of one become the inputs of the next: greenhouse heat from biodigestion, compost from restaurant kitchens, pollinators from the food forest.

It is a working farm, a renewable energy campus, a research park and a destination for a million curious visitors — all on the same 6,000 acres. Every district is designed to be visited, understood and copied.

Innovation

The systems that make it work.

  • Regenerative by design

    Soil-first farming, rotational grazing, agroforestry and wetlands that leave the land measurably healthier every season.

  • Powered by its own sun and wind

    Solar arrays, wind, geothermal loops and biodigestion generate the heat and electricity that keep the park growing all winter.

  • A closed-loop economy

    Organic waste becomes energy and compost; water is captured, cleaned and returned. Nothing useful leaves the site.

  • A living research campus

    Working farmland doubles as a testbed for universities, agri-tech founders and public-sector science.

  • Education you can walk through

    School programs, apprenticeships and interpretive trails turn every district into a classroom.

  • Food security, committed

    A share of every harvest is directed to community food centres, schools and food banks in the region.
