Mission
Power an entire 6,000-acre bio-park with clean energy generated on site — and turn the region's organic waste into heat, electricity and fertility.
Spanning 600 acres, the Sustainable Energy District powers the entire Bio-Park through integrated renewable systems. Solar fields, vertical axis wind turbines, anaerobic biodigestion and geothermal installations work in concert to generate clean energy, produce compost and drive the park's carbon footprint toward zero.
Private-public partnerships divert local waste streams into energy for the greenhouses and fertilizer for the fields and forests — closing a loop that normally ends in a landfill.
Inside the district
What's being built here.
Anaerobic digestion
Feedstock is collected, broken down in an oxygen-free environment, and converted to biogas that is cleaned and burned for electricity and heat. The nutrient-rich digestate returns to the fields as fertilizer.
Smart grid integration hub
A 10-acre control campus balances generation, storage and district demand in real time across all twelve districts.
Innovation and education centre
A 15-acre sustainable technology centre where visitors, students and industry see clean energy systems working at commercial scale.
